Stoneware, metalic glaze | 2024

This body of work, Invisible Cities was made for a group show, ‘Little Creatures’. The prompt for the exhibiton was to investigate the history and cultural phenomena that is the humble garden gnome. Invisible Cities alludes to ancient civilisations and once-upon-a-time revered folklore - a gesture to the beginning of fairy tales.  

Arranged in a circle, extruded abstracted architectural forms push up from the ground, forming a fairy ring. The viewer is invited to step into the circle and let their imagination ponder the invisible cities of our gardens and the creatures that dwell within them.
